Is Your Olive Oil Real or Fake?
My favorite olive oil. It is relatively inexpensive and tastes good. Make sure the label has the USDA organic symbol. The regular olive oil of this brand is a blend |
Research suggests that including 100 % pure olive oil in a healthy diet reduces the risk of both breast and colon cancer, helps prevent heart disease by lowering bad cholesterol and lowers blood pressure. Use it to make your hair soft, shiny and more managable. Rubbing a little into your skin will sooth dryness and keep your skin looking young. Plus it tastes really good. No doubt about it 100 % pure olive oil is amazing. But, did you know that up to 80% of oils marketed in the U.S. as olive oil are actually a blend of olive oil and cheaper, less beneficial and in some cases harmful, oils? You can't tell by labeling, color or taste which olive oils are pure. There is a way to test your olive oil though. Place a small amount of olive oil into a bowl and refrigerate overnight. If the oil solidifies it is pure olive oil. If it is grainy or remains liquid it is a blend.
Pure olive oil also burns. Put some in an oil lamp. If it sustains a flame its real. If not its fake.
