Planting Peas

Here in the PNW pea planting time marks the official start of the growing season! I like snap peas best but now is the time to also plant snow and shelling peas. Oh, and don't forget the sweet peas!

Soil sould be at least 45 degrees. Add aged chicken manure and wood ashes to the pea planting area and turn it in.

Plant peas 1 inch deep and 2 inches apart in rows 18 inches apart. I grow in raised beds so space is limited and I have had success spacing my rows 12 inches apart.

Peas like to have something to climb on, even self supporting varieties like Cascadia.
