My, how fast seedlings do grow! Tomatoes are nearly all up and some are even getting their first true leaves. Aleko ended up being a dud so I planted some Cherokee Purple seeds received from a gardening friend.
Basil, parsley and marjoram have all germinated. Basil seedlings are so cute, like chubby baby cheeks!

Peppers, eggplant, celery, lettuce and strawberries all continue to put on growth.

Cabbages and kale are also doing well. Though they could be planted out now, I would rather they get a little larger first.
Speaking of planting out, the onions and leeks were planted this week. 147 bulb onions, 60 scallions (plus more direct sown seed for a continuous crop) and 30 leeks.

My winter daphne is budding and should bloom within the next two weeks. By the end of the month it's heady fragrance will be detectable from 100 feet away.
The cuckoo marans have entered their ugly phase. They gently peep all day, talking amongst themselves, and one cries in distress whenever one of her sisters is removed from the box to be cuddled.
